Headlines Reader

About This App

When you scroll through your favorite source for news, do you wish there was a more efficient way to find articles you're interested in? Are there times you'd like to avoid stories about certain people or topics? This app is for you.

Some news and publications websites offer a thing called an RSS feed. These feeds allow you to see article titles and a short description in a simple list format. RSS is relic from the early days of the internet, so it's not broadly supported anymore. But, there are numerous sites that still provide RSS feeds.

This app allows you to enter URLs of RSS feeds and filter the articles using keywords. The app will display the articles that match your criteria (based on the content of the article title and its brief description). If you see an article of interest, you can click on (select) "Read more" to go to the article on the source site.

You can also save the URL and a nickname for the feed so you can easily access it in the future.

To find the RSS feed URLs for your favorite news sources, try an internet search or check out the list in the Library of this app.

Unfortunately, RSS source formats are not fully standardized -- so this app may not work smoothly (or may not work at all) with a given source.

Note, also, that is an installable app. This is a progressive web app (PWA).
